BART/Cal Train Information
ON THURSDAY ONLY (!) a black Bauer Shuttle to the Campus will be picking up our attendees at the Cal Train stop (San Francisco Station - terminus of Cal Train at King St) and at the BART stop (Civic Center Station) between 6:45a.m. and 8a.m. The shuttle will circle between the stations and campus twice. A RETURN SHUTTLE will run from campus to BART and Cal Train at 4:30 p.m. that day and one more circle (about 5:15 p.m.). If for some reason you miss the shuttle, it is your responsibility to get to USF or back to your public transportation site, but we do hope this service will be helpful!

Local Attractions and Weather

USF’s 55-acre campus sits right in the heart of the city of San Francisco. We encourage you to immerse yourself in our urban campus and the city that surrounds us.
San Francisco is known for high-end cuisine served at places like Jardiniere, Wexler’s, Kokkari, Waterbar, Epic Roasthouse, and The Slanted Door. All of these restaurants have great bar menus-if you can’t get a reservation we recommend you eat at the bar. But, the USF community also has some fabulous neighborhood favorites such as Sushi Bistro, Cha Cha Cha, Papalote Mexican Grill, Zazie, Magnolia Pub and Brewery, Twilight CafĂ©, and the Alembic. If you are in need of a java fix or are craving a light snack, Starbuck’s, Peet’s coffee, and La Boulange are within walking distance of campus. A guide to local services will be available at the conference.

You shouldn’t miss the city’s tourist destinations such as: Golden Gate Bridge (be brave – take a walk out on the bridge itself), The Haight (re-live the Summer of Love on the corner of Haight and Ashbury), Golden Gate Park (check out the de Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences), Fisherman’s Wharf (look out for the sea lions), and Union Square (one word – shopping).

Interested in staying fit? USF’s Koret Health and Recreation Center will be available during your stay for a special WACAC conference price of $10.00 per day. This includes use of cardio machines, indoor swimming pool, weight room and group fitness classes. All Conference participants will be asked to sign a waiver that will be valid for all 3 days of the conference. For more information go to: http://www.usfca.edu/koret/. Or you can venture outside and go for a run through the Presidio down towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Another option is to take a stroll through Golden Gate Park and behold the beauty of the 1,017 acre park with features such as The Conservatory of Flowers, AIDS Memorial Grove, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Bison Paddock. You can even rent a rowboat and paddle around Stow Lake!

June in San Francisco: While the weather is very hard to predict in San Francisco you can usually expect the fog to roll in by the afternoon. We highly recommend that you dress in layers and that you bring a jacket.

See you soon!
