Helpful Hints to Enjoy the WACAC Conference, at the University of San Francisco June 9 – 11th

  • Parking is free in the Koret Center Lot, no permit required.

  • All venues, including our Exhibit Hall, are relatively close on campus  . . . here’s a map:  www.usfca.edu/campusmap/

  • Registration will be open in the University Center from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday

  • Free shuttles will be running on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between Loyola Village (on campus housing), the Conference hotels, campus and social venues.  The actual schedules will be printed in the Conference At A Glance, which will be available at Registration, Loyola Village and the Conference Hotels.  Note:  if you miss the last shuttle, it is your responsibility to get back to where you need to be!

  • Free shuttles will also be running from BART and Cal Train on Thursday . . .  watch for a specific email about the locations and pick up / drop off times.

  • If you are a local high school counselor or transfer center director or community college counselor, please plan to attend the Local Counselors’ Day breakfast on Thursday.

  • If this will be your first WACAC Conference, please plan to attend the First Timers’ breakfast on Thursday.

  • Want to meet people fast?  No better way to do this than to volunteer to help at the Conference!  Contact Karly Nelson at Karly.nelson@oregonstate.edu to volunteer.

  • Another great way to meet people?  Be a member of a WACAC Olympics team or a judge . . . fun events and microbrew and pretzels!  Contact Joe Romano at jromano@bcp.org to get involved.

  • If you’re not staying on campus, you’ll want to stop for breakfast before you get to USF or purchase your breakfast in Crossroads, located down the stairs from Registration.

  • What to wear?  The weather in San Francisco is unpredictable . . . could be 75 and sunny . . . could be 50 and foggy/rainy.  Bring your tye dye and layers!

  • The Wednesday Night Social will feature karaoke, casino games, basketball playoffs and dancing . . . in addition to a showing of “500 Words or Less.”

  • The Thursday Night Social will be “on the town” with your choice of the Academy of Sciences (for a $10 ticket you must purchase at the Concierge Desk at Registration), or restaurants and pubs in two neighborhoods in the City.  Guides and shuttle information will be available at the Concierge Desk at Registration and at the Concierge Desk at lunch on Thursday.

  • Over 70 sessions are planned, and the Friday Super Session on “The State of College Admissions Revisited” is not to be missed!

See you soon!
